An ‘Exotic’ Journey


To know about the business it is important to get an insight about the man behind it: Darius Karani.

Growing up in India, at a very early age, he always knew, he wanted to be different. A "9 to 5 job" failed to excite him. He was going to run his business and be the master of his destiny.

Never in his wildest dreams, did he imagine, that his journey into entrepreneurship, would take him from India to far flung NZ.

Before coming to NZ, Darius entered into a strategic partnership with Koura Bay Wines and opened new markets making Koura Bay a worldwide icon.

Not resting on his laurels, ‘Exotica Enterprise.’ was formed to create a unique blend of natural NZ products. Our brands are strategically packaged, positioned and priced to target the high end market but are not out of the range of the everyday person.

We produced the world’s first Manuka Honey Liqueur, MANUKA GOLD’. which captured the huge Chinese market and the response from the rest of the world is extremely encouraging.

Exotica Enterprise Ltd also started a new label of wines, under the brand name ‘MARLOROUGH EXOTICA’.

The wines under this label are Marlborough Exotica Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough Exotica Pinot Gris & Marlborough Exotica Pinot Noir. These 3 wines have already won the acclaimed Bragato Gold awards in 2009.  It is an extraordinary achievement that a new wine would win Gold medals in all the varietals in the very first year.

This endorses the fact that only premium, quality and world class products are made by Exotica Enterprise.

Darius has created products that are “worth their weight in gold”. With the success of Manuka Gold and the demand to create more products, Exotica Enterprise Ltd has developed the ‘LOVE MANUKA RANGE’. This range has got honey, chocolates, sea salts, ice creams with many more products such has cereals, muesli bars, cordials etc. in the pipeline.

Ideas continue to flow, accolades pour in which are a testimony of his ingenuity, hard work & ability to convert his vision into reality.

Our Goals and Objectives:

The world sees New Zealand with its rich soil, crisp climate and its clean green image, as a paradise for quality products. 

The goal is simple. “Develop unique and quality New Zealand products for the world to enjoy”

The objectives are:

1.To capture the New Zealand Market so that the product has a New Zealand presence. 

2.To target and penetrate one or two markets at a time by entering into strategic alliances with distribution companies who have already established themselves in that market.

3.To develop the brand and raise awareness of each product in the markets we are targeting.

4.To help the distributor, market and sell the products by attending food shows, culinary events, trade expos and other similar events

5.To repeat steps 1, 2 and 3 for untapped markets.


Innovation:


Manuka Honey is known worldwide for its taste and health benefits. Manuka Honey is synonymous with New Zealand as we are the only country in the world that produces it.

NZ produces and sells a lot of Manuka Honey, but without any innovation.  Exotica Enterprise Ltd with their brands Manuka Gold and Love Manuka have tapped the benefits of Manuka Honey and developed new products and opened new markets.


Sustainable:


To ensure the sustainability the company has entered into strategic agreements and partnerships with reputable and well established New Zealand companies such as The Prenzel Distilling Company Ltd and many others. Thus it ensures that there is a continuous supply of raw materials and products.

To ensure the developments of the brand and markets Exotica Enterprise has signed agreements with Distributors worldwide.  For a “Kiwi brand” to succeed internationally, it must have a strong local New Zealand presence. With that in mind Exotica Enterprise Ltd has entered into strategic agreements with key companies in New Zealand.  They also have agreements in place with distributors in more than 10 counties worldwide.
